Imphal, February 12 2009:
Union minister of Department of North East Region (DoNER) and Panchayati Raj, Mani Shanker Aiyer is arriving in Imphal on February 21 on a two-day visit.
The state government has begun making arrangement for the visit, an official source said today.
The Minister, during his visit in the state, will fly to Moreh to inspect the infrastructure development at the Trade Centre, LCS and ICP site taken up in the border town.
He will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of North Eastern Council (NEC)-funded Inter-state Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Khuman Lampak here.
As per the tentative itinerary programme received by the state government, Mani Shanker Aiyer will arrive at Imphal Tulihal Airport by an Indian Air Force helicopter in the afternoon of February 21 .
On the same day of arrival, the visiting Minister will hold a meeting with the officials of the state government to review the progress of works under BRGF at the Old Secretariat Conference Hall, South Block.
The Principal Secretary (Rural Development) has been asked to make arrangement for the meeting.
Among other top officials of the state government, DCs of Churachandpur, Chandel and Tamenglong districts where the BRGF programmes are being implemented will also attend the meeting, the source said.
On the morning of the next day (February 22), the Union Minister, DoNER will fly to Moreh by the same helicopter he travelled in, and visit the Trade Centre, LCS and ICP site there.
Additional Chief Secretary (Planning), Director (Commerce and Industries), Officer on Special Duty (Trade) and DC, Chandel will accompany the Minister on the visit, the source said.
After returning from Moreh, around 9.30 am of the same day, Mani Shanker will lay the foundation stone for the installation of NEC-funded ISBT at Khuman Lampak.
Commissioners (Works) and (Transport) have been entrusted with making arrangements for the foundation stone lying ceremony.
At 11 am of the same day, before departure for New Delhi, he will also chair another round of meeting with the state official on RGPRS (Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan) .
