In an attempt to inform and educate the rural public on various developmental schemes of the government, the Press Information Bureau, Imphal under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi, Government of India, will be organising a four-day long Bharat Niman Public Information Campaign (PIC) at various places in Ukhrul District from February 18 .
Speaking to newsmen today at its office located at Old Lambulane, Imphal, Media Communication Officer of PIB, Imphal, L.Premlata said that the campaign is aiming to provide information and awareness about the various developmental schemes undertaken by the Central Government to the rural public and it will make an effort to help them developed.
The campaign will focus on sensitising rural people about the various schemes of the government and ensure them to gain maximum benefits.
She said that the campaign will give more emphasise on issues of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Right to Information (RTI) Act, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Mid-day Meal programme, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and Bharat Niman Package including Rural Housing, Rural Drinking Water Supply, Rural Road Connectivity, Rural Telephony, Rural Electricity and Rural Irrigation.
The four-day long campaign will be marked by various activities including presentation of talk by resource persons and interaction with the public, presentation of some success stories, free-eye camp, baby show competition, free-health camp, immunization and blood testing, the MCO maintained.
The Song and Drama Division, Imphal will also present various cultural programmes relating to the theme of the campaign at various places of the district where such campaign will be held, Premlata said.
Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity will also open an exhibition stall in the 1000 square feet-sized Ukhrul Town Hall, Premlata said while adding that the Prasar Bharti will give full coverage to the campaign programme.
She said that the campaign programme will be participated by the District Administration, Ukhrul, other Central and State Governments departments, NGOs, and educational institutions.
She further said that a core committee and sub committees have also been constituted in regard to the coming information campaign in Ukhrul district.
She said that M Kanan Kumar, assistant station director, AIR, Imphal, has been appointed as the chairman of the core committee while the MCO of PIB, Imphal is the secretary.
Members of the committee include DSP, Ukhrul; Song and Drama Division, Imphal; DAVP, Imphal; and DDK, Imphal.
