Sainik School staff for fencing worlds

Chemistry Lab Assistant of Sainik School, Imphal namely Md Nizammuddin has been selected by Paralympic Committee of Manipur and Wheelchair Fencing Federation of India to represent the country in the World Cup (Wheelchair Fencing) 2012 to be held at Malchow (Germany) from January 26 to 29, informed a PIB (DW) release.
It is said that Nizammuddin, an ex-student of the school who passed out in 2007, made his career in the field of sports by participating in the 1st and 2nd State Games for physically challenged persons organised by the Paralympic Committee of Manipur in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
He won gold medals successively in the said State championships and represented Manipur in the 3rd and 4th National Wheelchair Fencing Championships organised by Paralympic committee of Bangalore in association with Wheelchair Fencing Federation of India at Orissa and Chennai in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
He bagged gold medal in the 3rd nationals while in the 4th, he won gold and silver medals, subsequently selected to participate in the World Cup 2012 for which trial selection was conducted on December 15 and 16 by the Indian Federation at Kanteerva Stadium, Bangalore .
He is the first ever fencing player of the country to participate in a World Cup Tournament, the PIB (DW) release added.
