Tankers leave along NH 2

Imphal, January 04 2012:
As an initiative to overcome the difficulties in the transportation of petroleum and LPG products to the State and to ensure adequate fuel stock during the election, oil tankers and LPG bullets have left Imphal today along the NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road).
Escorted by CRPF personnel, the venture was taken up for the first time after it was abandoned for a long time following economic blockades called by Sadar Hills District Demand Committee and United Naga Council.
The vehicles which left Imphal today included 125 oil tankers and 15 LPG bullets.
The oil tankers and LPG bullets left Imphal at around 9 am after assembling at Mantripukhri.
They were escorted from Mantripukhri by a CRPF battalion upto Jakhama and would be escorted by another CRPF batallion from there.
