AJUCA condoles
All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA), Jiribam has deeply condoled the sudden demise of AJUCA founder general secretary Kh Birjit Singh on August 16, our correspondent reports.
Kh Birjit was a social worker who, along with various civil organisations worked for the welfare of the people of Jiribam.
Moreh bandh called off
Following a request made to All Manipur Students' Union, Chandel District Committee, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Moreh by the Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, the proposed Moreh bandh and mass rally which was scheduled to be held on August 18 has been called off, a statement issued by HTC, Moreh informed.
Documents set on fire
Documents and official files of SDO Saikul Camp were burned at the residence of Senjam Boby of Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat police station by unknown persons numbering around 20 this morning.
It is said that the unknown persons told the family that they have started burning Government properties and offices without any warning or information from today.
AMMOCOC appeals
The All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has appealed to all concerned not to impose bandh/blockade on Aug 18 and 19 as many Haj pilgrims from the State are leaving for Mecca during the period.
At the same time, the Pangal Students' Organisation, Manipur (PSO) has wished all Mecca bound Muslims of the State a fruitful pilgrimage.
NSS Award
Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University has invited nominations for conferment of Manipur University NSS Award- 2015 from different colleges and institutions affiliated to Manipur University having NSS units.
The award will be conferred to three programme officers and their respective units and three volunteers.
Nominations can be submitted till Sept 10.Details can be had from PC, NSS Cell, MU.
Highway bandh
In solidarity to the ongoing protest movement for pro-tection of indigenous people by enacting an effective legis-lation, JCILPS Jiribam Branch has called a 48 hours Imphal-Jiribam highway bandh with effect from August 18 midnight till August 20 midnight.
Water supply, electricity, medical services and religious functions would be exempted from the purview of the bandh, said JCILPS Jiribam Branch.
