Imphal, March 21 2010:
Zeme people who fled their homes after a communal violence broke out at North Cachar Hills are still taking refuge at Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district.
The district administration has recently requested the State Government to provide 600 quintals of rice for four months for these people.
Even though most of the male villagers have returned to their respective villages, women and children are still taking shelter in the villages of the sub-division.
It may be mentioned that around 256 job cards have been issued to these villagers by the district administration for their livelihood.
