The dignity and value of labour should be respected since labour force contributed great changes to the society for better future,said T.Mangibabu MLA on the third Workers Union Manipur (WUM) Foundation Day in Imphal on Sunday.
He encouraged the labourers and said that "we must be proud of the labourers instead of treating them as lower class profession.
There is nothing to ashame about the kind of works the labourers are doing and one should not insult just because they are doing low grade jobs".
The MLA further said that the labourers are earning with their sweats for their livelihood and it is one of the purest form of income for their survival.
Mangibabu stressed on the NGOs, to have solid stand for the upliftment of strong society.
He felt that WUM is one of the organisation which can generate employment.
Speaking on the foundation day, Jagatkishore IAS chief conservator of forest and member/ secretary of pollution control board opined that WUM is tackling the Imphal city environment by cleaning the city from time to time.
"To keep the city clean and green, our attitude towards the environment should be change and it should start the responsibility from 'me' attitude.
Everyone should have the civic senses by not littering around and dispose the garbage in a proper way", he added.
On the occasion, Joy Kumar secretary of WUM disclosed that there are atleast 700 members (work force) in their union working along with 5 different NGOs.
He also stated that there is likelihood of launching a scheme for the labourers (members) in the near future.
