GOC, 57 Mtn Divn, Maj Gen DS Hooda has assured the Manipur Mountaineering and Tracking Association (MMTA) that the Army will provide mountaineering equipments worth Rs 5 lakh to the MMTA.
This assurance was given by the GOC, Maj Gen Hooda when he visited and inspected the Adventure and Leadership Park of MMTA at Lamdan today.
After seeing the activities of adventure and mountaineering being taken up at Lamdan by the MMTA, an apparently pleased Maj Gen Hooda told the leaders of MMTA that necessary mountaineering equipments worth Rs 5 lakh would be provided from the Army's side.

He said, if the Army and the MMTA join hands in taking up adventure related activities, it will be very much helpful in promoting adventure in Manipur.
He also encouraged the MMTA in its efforts.
President of MMTA Dr L Surjit, who was also present during the GOC's visit, said that the Governmen of Manipur has been taking a major role in developing the complex at Lamdan with a view to turning the complex into an adventure tourism complex.
General Secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Victor Keishing, village chief of Lamdan, high ranking Army officers were also present on the occasion.
