A wounded PLA in the gunfight with security forces on March 16 at Old Tolen area was among 11 activists of different underground outfits apprehended by the security forces and police commandos in separate counter insurgency operations in the last 24-hour.Thoubal police commandos also conducted a cordon search operation at Salungpham and its surrounding area including Tolen village in Thoubal district jointly with the BSF personnel today apparently in the follow up action to the arrest of wounded PLA cadre, police source said.
Apart from the wounded PLA cadre, other apprehended by the security forces and police commandos included four KYKL, two KCP and four ULA including its finance chief, officials sources said.
A PLA cadre injured in gunfight with Security Forces at Tolen village in Chandel district on March 16 last was arrested by the police commandos from Imphal Hospital Imphal yesterday.
With his arrest, two PLA cadres wounded in the gunfight that killed two of its cadres so far rounded up by the police.
The injured PLA cadre identified as Ningthoukhongjam Bhagirat @ Harly (25) son of Kula of Heitupokpi Mamang Leikai, Heriok part-1 revealed, during preliminary interrogation that he was involved in the gunfight, a statement of Senior SP of Thoubal district said today.
Mention may be made that earlier also the same Thoubal police commandos apprehended a wounded cadre of PLA identified as Thuoyangba on March 18 injured in the gunfight.
Apparently in the follow action to the arrest, a combined force of Thoubal police commandos and 140 BSF conducted a cordon search operation at Salungpham Mamang Leikai, Salungpham Yambem, Old Tolen village and Ringpham village from this morning 4 am till 7 am.
House to house search operation was conducted by calling out all the people of age ranges from 15 to 60 including women.
There were no reports of rounding of undergrounds or suspects during the operation.
A combined team of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry also arrested a KYKL activist identified as Seram Piyarbond @ Itan (45) son of late Pishak of Patsoi part-2 from his residence today at about 11.15, a statement of the Imphal West Senior SP informed.
Troops of Assam Rifles under the IGAR (S) headquarters also apprehended nine underground activists in the last 24-hour, said a statement of the PRO, IGAR(S) today.
Troops of 29 Assam Rifles during a checking on the vehicles on the Imphal-Moreh highway at Sita Road Junction apprehended three KYKL cadres include two women and one male cadre.
Rupees 3050 in cash and Adm stores have been recovered from three apprehended persons identified as Shyam Khanal (48) son of late Bira of Yairipok Ningel, his wife Lilni (40) and Jiban (35) wife of Gunamani of Uairpok Ningel, Thoubal.
They were travelling on a Tata Sumo, the statement said.
The same troops further nabbed two cadres of KCP at the same check post at Sita Road Junction around 8 am today while checking of a TATA Sumo Vehicle.
They were identified as No.23715 Pvt Y Ranjan Singh (32) son of Y Lukhol of Santipur and A Singhajit, (20) son of Ibocho Singh of Mayang Imphal, Santipur.
Four ULA militants including a C-in-C and Finance Secretary were also nabbed by the troops of 31 Assam Rifles at Moreh yesterday at about 10 am.
They were identified as Aimson (36) of Pallel, (C-in-C), Thangminlal (35) of Ward No.2 Moreh (Finance Secretary), Moringson, (16) of Pallel and Aning (27) of Pallel, Chandel.
Two magazines of AK-47 were recovered from their possession and were handed over to Imphal West Police Station, the statement added.
