Chingtam, Sangakpham won the 5th Cash Prize Late Koijam Yaima Memorial Veteran Football Tournament, 2010 organised by the XI Star Sporting Union, Akampat Imphal as the tournament concluded today at XI Star Football Ground, Akampat, Imphal.
Works Minister, K Ranjit graced the closing ceremony as chief guest.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister N Biren was the functional president.
Tribal Development and Veterinary and Animal Husbandary Minister DD Thaisi and Chairman, Manipur State Planning Board, President, Manipur Olympic Association, MLA Bijoy Koijam also attended the function as guests of honour.
The final match was played between Chingtam Veteram Football Association, (CTVFA) Sangakpham and Tiddim Road Veteran Sporting Association (TRVSA), Malom.
Chingtam defeated TRVSA 5-0 and won the prestigious champion's trophy this year.
Chingtam dominated the match right from the beginning.
On the other hand no players of TRVSA could scored a single goal against Chingtam throughout the match.
They found it impossible to face their mighty opponent and ended up with the runners up's trophy.
Winner Chingtam was awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000 along with the trophy.
Runners up team TRVSA was also awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with the trophy.
Ibudhou Marjing veteran Football Association, Heingang won the best discipline team's title which carries a cash award of Rs 1,000 .
Anganpu of TVFA was adjusted best veteran player's title.
Kh Kanhai of TRVSA, Malom was declared best goal keeper and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with the trophy.
H Gopal of TRVSA was adjusted the Best Scorer's title for his performance of four goals.
