A three-day workshop on the topic, 'Agriculture Development in Manipur: Prospects and Problems' has kick started at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak from today.
Jointly sponsored by the State Agriculture Department and HMNEH of Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, the workshop was organised by All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) .
Speaking at the opening session of the workshop as chief guest, Agriculture Department Director G Shamu Kabui said that the impact of global climate change is felt in the State as well.
Many vegetables which were widely grown in the past are struggling to grow on the soil of Manipur now, he said.
As such, there is need to conduct awareness programmes for farmers frequently, Shamu Kabui observed.
AMPFA president Joy Nongmaithem presided over the function wherein experts from Agriculture Department and H&SC Department spoke as resource persons.
