CM assures healthcare for all

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has assured that he would do whatever is possible in his capacity to ensure that shortage of infrastructure and technologies do not come in the way of providing quality healthcare to the people of Manipur.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the 18th annual conference of the Association of Surgeaon of India, Manipur State Chapter at the Jubilee Hall of RIMS here today.
On the priority of the State Government in the health sector, Ibobi said, "In health sector, our outcome is to have a long and healthy life of all our citizens.
Our key objective is to increas the life expectancy of our citizens and ensures that al people have access to health care.
The key outputs in this regard are to reduce the mortality rate, reduce the impact and prevalence of HIV and AIDS and other communicable diseases, and to ensure an effective health care system.
To achieve these outputs, our key activities include ensuring a well-co-ordinated health system with special focus on communicable and non-communicable diseases" .
He went on to say, "We are dedicated to ensuring a better healthcare system for our system and we would like to focus on social health insurance scheme to cater for the poor and vulnerable people.
Steps have been initiated to provide quality services by revitalization of health infrastructure and rejuvenate our existing hospitals with better ones at the earliest" .
Presided over by Prof Ksh Kala, the President of Association of Surgeons of India, Manipur State Chapter, the inaugural function was also attended by Director of RIMS Prof S Shekharjit and President of Association of Surgeon of India, Health quarters Dr Suresh Chandra as Guests of Honour.
Along others, Dr Goro Honda, Dr Kentaro and Dr Soheisatoi from Japan, Prof KC Kothari from Ahamedabad and Dr Mandarnadkari and Prof Shrikhande from Mumbai are also taking part in the conference.
