Source: The Sangai Express
Tengnoupal, December 11 2018:
Chief/Chairman of Mangkang village has alleged that as per customary law of Moyon tribe, the land of Moyon tribe could not be sold out/disposed ofby any chief.
Land of Mangkang village belongs to Moyon community and not to the chief, said a statement of the chairman refuting the claim of Lalkholun Haokip, chief of Haolenphai that the 'Haolenphai village was acquired from the former Mangkang chief late Mongching Moyon'.
The statement of the chief Mangkang village also appealed authorities concerned to rename the Haolenphai outpost as "Mangkang Outpost", as the site falls 'within' the territory of Mangkang.
