AR organises friendly football match

To kick start the festivity of Christmas and to encourage the youth and their participation in sports, a friendly football match was organized today at Pallel by Chandel Battalion, 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) to highlight the hidden football talent of the youth of Chandel and Kakching.
The match was played between YDC (Youth Development Club) based at Charapur in Wanjing and the Assam Rifles team.
The players of YDC were mainly students of XI and XII standard and were very enthusiastic towards the game of football, a statement of IGAR said.
26 Sector Assam Rifles has recognized many such local sports clubs and invited them to play against their team in an effort to develop confidence and provide them a platform to hone and display their sporting skills.
The game brought out the grit and determination of the young players.
The playing skills and resolute energy of the young players of YDC was appreciated by the crowd including the officers of Assam Rifles.
Speaking of the selfless efforts put in by the founding members of YDC, H Surjit Singh, H Boicha, S Inova and volunteers like Sub Surjit Singh, 26 Sector Assam Rifles appreciated the brilliant training and coaching imparted by them to YDC.
A total of 16 players played from YDC, all of whom were lauded for their indomitable sportsmanship spirit by both the team and officers of 26 Sector Assam Rifles.
The match was a part of series of matches organized under the Christmas Cup by 26 Sector Assam Rifles to commemorate and celebrate the divine spirit of Christmas and to recognize the potential of underprivileged and unrecognized teams of all the local districts near Pallel.
