Go Green drive at Sehlon

Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) undertook an afforestation awareness drive under the theme of "GO GREEN" in the border area of Sehlon village on June 16 .
According to a release of PRO, IGAR(S) issued today, the villagers were briefed about harmful effects of deforestation and Jhum cultivation during this initiative.
It also brought out the importance of forests in our eco system and motivated the villagers to adopt new and scientific methods of cultivation, so as to increase the yield and save the depleting green cover, the release said, while adding that a total of 100 saplings of a variety of trees were planted by the villagers who also expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for educating them on the new methods of cultivation and the need to preserve the fast diminishing eco system.
