DGAR visits Kohima to review security

Lt Gen R K Rana, SM, VSM, the newly appointed Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) visited Kohima on June 16 and 17 .
According to the PRO, IGAR(North), during the course of his visit, Lt Gen RK Rana reviewed the security situation in Nagaland and also called on Dr Ashwani Kumar, Governor of Nagaland wherein he discussed the steps being taken to further consolidate the security situation in Nagaland.
The General had wide ranging discussions with the Governor to include the development projects being undertaken by the Assam Rifles in Nagaland.
The ways in which the Assam Rifles could contribute to enhance job opportunities, education and sports facilities for the people of Nagaland were discussed.
The Governor complimented the General on his being appointed the DGAR and conveyed his appreciation for the outstanding performance and contribution of the Assam Rifles towards maintaining peace and tranquility in Nagaland, the PRO,IGAR(North) added.
During his visit, the DGAR inaugurated the "Pineapple Canning Plant" established under Military Civic Action programme at Medziphema (Ghaspani).
A first of its kind, the plant has been dedicated and handed over to the local village council who has been entrusted to run the factory, thus enabling employment for twelve locals, including four women.
Prior to his departure, Lt Gen RK Rana complimented all ranks of headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) for their dedication and devotion to duty.
He reminded all ranks that they should live up to our motto of, "Friends of the Hill People".
He also conveyed his appreciation and gratitude to the populace, civil administration, NGOs, Church and media of Nagaland for their continued cooperation with the Assam Rifles, the PRO,IGAR(North) added.
