Imphal, June 17 2014:
Manipur is among the States and Union Territories where implementation of the Crimes and Criminal Network Tracking and Systems (CCTNS) project is lagging behind and the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has taken serious note of it.
On Tuesday, the Union Home Minister reviewed the centre-state division of the Home Ministry and called for speedy implementation of the Crimes and Criminal Network Tracking and Systems (CCTNS) project and the Nirbhaya Fund project.
A statement from the Home Ministry said Rajnath Singh would be speaking to Chief Ministers and the Union Territory administrators of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, Lakshadweep, Manipur and Rajasthan where implementation of CCTNS project was lagging.
The Minister has also expressed concern over the delay in kicking off the Nirbhaya Fund project, which was launched by the Congress-led government in February 2014, in some States and Union territories.
Under this project, any distress/emergency alarms generated by women by pressing a button through her mobile phones/devices will land at the police control rooms that would immediately arrange to dispatch emergency PCR vans to assist the individual in distress.
The proposed system is to be implemented in 114 identified cities.
