JAC calls 48-hr bandh in Thoubal District

Thoubal, October 26 2015:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the mysterious death of Sinam Tomboi has imposed a 48-hour bandh in the Thoubal District from 6 am Tuesday (October 27). However, religious functions, power supply, health services, media will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
A statement issued by JAC stated that the bandh was imposed after the Government failed to meet the demands within the deadline given.
It may be mentioned that Sinam Tomboi of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai died under "mysterious" circumstances on October 21 in a hospital.
It has been said that Tombo sustained serious injuries in a road mishap on October 18 .
However, the JAC has alleged that Tomboi's nine chest ribs were found broken and he bore many injury marks on his body.
The JAC said that the vehicle used by Tomboi was not as badly damaged as expected of an accident like the one claimed.
Local residences have blamed the Thoubal Police Commandos for his death.
The JAC has demanded the Government to take punitive action against the culprits involved in the "crime" and arrest them before October 26 .
