Agitation put on hold

The JAC against the torture and loot of Ataur Rehman has decided to put on hold its proposed agitation after an agreement was arrived during two rounds of meeting with the CM yesterday.
Speaking to reporters today at Manipur Press Club, JAC convener Zakir Hussain said the first round of the talk between the JAC and Govt was held from 11.30 am to 1 pm yesterday.
CM O Ibobi, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir and SPs of Imphal West and Thoubal attended the meeting from the Govt side.
The second round of talk was held from 5.30 pm yesterday, Zakir said.
During the talk, it was agreed among others that a Special Investigation Team be constituted to probe the case and a report be submitted within one month, he said.
As such, the JAC also agreed to put on hold its proposed agitation.
It may be mentioned that Ataur Rehman was reportedly looted by police commandos on Oct 22 along Old Assembly Road.
Rs 6 lakh which Ataur took with him for purchasing trade items was reportedly looted from him.
He was allegedly taken away later in a Maruti A-Star car.
He was dumped at Mantripukhri after he was tortured.
