2 AR jawans killed in Ukhrul Dist, claims RPF

Proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has claimed that its armed wing the PLA killed two personnel of 44 Assam Rifles (AR) while injuring many others in an ambush on Monday morning at a place between Khuikai and Sampui Lamkhai under Ukhrul District.
A press release signed by RPF Secretary Publicity Roben Khuman said that a team of PLA's Tactical Command attacked the 44 AR team on Monday at around 9.30 am and killed two personnel and injured many others.
The Tactical Command also recovered one Assault Rifle and numbers of live bullets from the AR team, said the release.

The RPF Secretary said that many personnel of the 44 AR team ran for their lives during the surprise attack.
The attack has been lauded by many as it was launched at a time when the State's revolutionary movement has been passing through a critical phase and the Indian State and its "occupational forces" have been trying to destabilize and disintegrate the integrity of Manipur nation, said the release.
RPF also expressed gratitude to those who has congratulated them for the attack on Monday.
RPF and its army wing PLA has drawn inspiration from the saying, "it is better to live independently for a moment and die rather than to live as slave for hundred years".
The statement called upon the people from all walks of life to stand up and fight together.

According to sources from Chassad Police Station, Kamjong, the attack occurred at around 8.30 am at a spot called Khuikai Lamkhai located about 7 kms from Maku village towards Kamjong sub-division.
Claiming that only one jawan was killed, the source said "Since the deceased jawan and those injured were immediately airlifted to Imphal, details of his identity could not be established yet" .
A heated exchange of gunfire then ensued for about half an hour till 9 am.
Though the ambush party could not be named, police suspected that it could be a valley based UG outfit.
Meanwhile, a team of Ukhrul police has rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Numerous bullet empty cases were recovered from the spot, police has claimed.
