Imphal, September 03:
Describing the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to Manipur on September 5 as an attempt to divert the attention of the general public and part of the Centres policy to prolong continuation of black laws, the RPF has decided to boycott the visit of the Minister.
Flaying the attempts of the Govt to misinterpret the genuine outcry of the people to revoke AFSPA, under which immunity the people have suffered enough atrocities at the hands of security force personnel, the RPF also condemned the Chief Minister for detaining agitators under NSA rather than understanding the aspirations of the people.
Stating that the people of Manipur can never forget the brutal murder of Th Manorama Devi and sacrifices of Pebam Chittaranjan and Memita Devi during agitation, the RPF observed that there is no reason why the Central Minister should be welcomed when the people are still faced with the possibility of being killed at any given moment.
