The Army Chief had, visited Assam, Nagaland and Manipur on September 2 as part of his normal visit to the forward areas.
During his visited to the State, he called on Governor and Chief Minister of Manipur and reiterated that the Army was keen to establish the truth and facts relating to the death of Thangjam Manorama Devi, a PIB Defence Wing press handout said.
The press handout said that it is for this reason that the Army had on its own initiative expeditiously organised taking blood samples of all the 33 personnel for DNA test.
These were jointly sealed under the arrangement of Regional Institute of Medical Science, Imphal.
31 blood samples were deposited with the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Kolkata on September 1 and the remaining two others samples today.
The Army Chief assured that should any culpability be established, the guilty would be most severely dealt with in keeping with the ethos and discipline of the Army.
