With the formation of a new body christened as Struggle Committee, Kshetrigao to intensify the ongoing demand for complete withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur, the people of Kshetrigao A/C have boycotted local MLA Vivek Raj Wangkhem for his alleged non-committal stand on the issue of lifting the repressive Act with immediate effect from today.
The Committee was formed during a joint public meeting of Meira Paibis of the Assembly constituency today.
Earlier during the day, the agitating Meira Paibis went to the residence of the MLA to hold talks on the prevailing situation in the State and to press the MLA to take definite stand on the issue of lifting AFSPA from Manipur.
However, a police team led by SDPO of Imphal East District Police, Manimohon stopped the womenfolk some 200/300 metres away from the MLAs residence as the area was still under CrPC 144.Moreover, Vivek Raj was not at home as he is presently camping at New Delhi.
But the womenfolk insisted on submitting a memorandum to his family members even if Vivek Raj was at New Delhi.
Finally, three women representatives were allowed to submit the memorandum and lodge their complaints to Vivek Rajs mother and his wife.
Later, five Meira Paibi representatives from Bamon Kampu area were also allowed to hold talks with the family members of the MLA.
During the talks, the Meira Paibis prevailed upon Vivek Rajs mother and his wife to take more active role in the ongoing public agitation.
However, none of the MLAs family members accepted the memorandum without the knowledge of the MLA.
