Stepping up the ongoing mass agitation for complete withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur, schools and colleges in many parts of the State have announced their decision of boycotting classes indefinitely.
Maintaining that students could not be in the mood to study at this critical juncture when the whole State is burning following the public agitation for re-vocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur, the Joint DM College Students� Union has boycotted classes indefinitely.
Responding to the class boycott call given by AMSU Singjamei Branch, general secretary of Mela Lampak High School Students� Union, Ningomthong Kitna Panung Chanam Somalia Devi has appealed to all the students of the school to refrain from attending classes.
The general secretary also announced unwavering support and cooperation to the ongoing agitation.
The students� union of Langdum High School has also boycotted classes indefinitely from yesterday demanding revocation of AFSPA from Manipur and punishment of guilty AR personnel involved in the killing of Manorama and Jamkholet Khongsai.
On the other hand, the Bless Academy, Tera Bazar would be joining the class boycott agitation with effect from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Joint Higher Secondary Students Union has appealed to the students to hoist flag with Manipur map and words Save Our Soul inscribed on it within their respective school campus to protest against prolonged imposition of AFSPA in Manipur.
Exerting pressure on the Government for lifting AFSPA from the entire State of Manipur, Urup-Arapti Development Co-ordinating Committee has lambasted the Government for its indifferent attitude toward the demand for withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act which gives unrestrained power to the security personnel.
The Committee also flayed the State police forces for using force against the protestors, including school children.
