Imphal, September 09 2015 :
Zomi Human Rights Foundation (ZHRF) has demanded the creation of a "separate administrative setup" for the indigenous hill tribal people of Manipur "away from the present setup" .
In a press statement, ZHRF also expressed its sympathy and conveyed condolences to all the bereaved family members of those who had made "supreme sacrifices" for the cause and unity of the indigenous hill tribal people.
While condemning the alleged "highhandedness" of the security forces for their brutality in killing the protesters, ZHRF also stated that the manner in which the three Bills were "conceived, drafted, introduced and passed" in the Manipur Legislative Assembly on August 31 was against the "established norms of democratic process and procedure" .
Hours after the passages of the three Bills, there were protests in the Hill districts of Manipur expressing the "displeasures" of the tribal people, said ZHRF.
The foundation said in Churachandpur, "men in uniform" resorted to indiscriminate firing of "live bullets" on the unarmed protesters and killed nine persons causing injury to many and observed that "rubber bullets" were used against the protesters.
