New technologies showcasing Krishi Mela begins

A two-day Krishi Mela has begun on Wednesday with a showcase of new technologies for agriculture at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Thoubal district.
Rice Breeder of Rice Research Station Wangbal Kongbrailatpam, Sanaton Sharma, programme coordinator of KVK Thoubal, Dr M Thoithoi and Deputy Project Director of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Thoubal, Hibjur Rehman attended as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively in the opening ceremony of the mela organised by KVK Thoubal under the sponsorship of ICAR.
Kongbrailatpam Sanaton Sharma said that every farmer has to share agricultural experiences with other farmers and added that organizing such a mela gives opportunity to farmers to help each other.
Dr M Thoithoi said that there are many farmers who have never seen new agricultural technologies and machines though some farmers have already started testing such new technologies and machines.
The different kinds of new technologies and machines are being displayed at the mela so that these farmers can understand the benefits, said Thoithoi while adding that sharing the experiences among the farmers will benefit the whole farming society in the State.
Hibjur Rehman said that it will be difficult to develop or increase agricultural production without applying new technologies and machines in cultivation.
