Lecture on dengue, natural resources held

The 12 BIHAR of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a "Eliminate Dengue" program in Maibam Chingmang village near the Japanese War Memorial on November 1 .
In a statement, PRO HQ IGAR (S) said that the effort is part of a drive by the Army to increase awareness among the villagers regarding health, hygiene and sanitation.
The causes of dengue, its symptoms and various preventive measures were explained to the villagers in the programme.
Later mosquito repellant fogging was also carried out by the Army in an around Maibam Chingmang village.
Meanwhile, 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles organised a lecture on proper use of natural resources at Sita village on Monday.
The proper ways and means of use of natural resources including Rain water harvesting were explained to the villagers.
Importance of plantation drive was duly emphasized and locals were encouraged to actively participate in the ongoing "Go Green drive" and other environmental friendly projects being undertaken by Assam Rifles in the region.
Over 35 villagers participated in the programme.
