Imphal, November 02 2015:
Reacting to certain defamatory allegations made on the issue of 'scratching' of clubs from the 20th Winners' Cup, All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) on Monday issued a clarification.
AMFA said that for the 20th Winners' Cup Men's which began on October 19 last, top district league winners from 8 districts participated in the tournament and the matches were played on Home and Away Knock-Out basis.
As the tournament progressed, there were complaints of teams and clubs deploying players which were not eligible.
First, there was a complaint against SIRTI FC, Chandel for roping in ineligible players and this was followed by another complaint that YOSC, Imphal East District has also resorted to the same unfair means.
After due deliberation, AMFA Executive Council disqualified both the clubs and they were 'scratched' from the list of participating teams based on rules and regulations of AMFA.
In the third complaint, Sagolband United, Imphal West Distrcit lodged a protest against JSYC Sadar Hills stating that the latter's player Ng Bedeenpar Moyon (Jsy 10) was not eligible to play for the team.
After a probe by the AMFA Executive Council, it was found out that Ng Bedeenpar Moyon (Jsy 10) was actually registered with UBSA, Mantak (DSA, Kakching) palyer.
He also played as a registered player of USBA Mantak in the last 19th Winners' Cup in 2014.Till now, he has not been transferred or loaned by any club.
Pointing out that AMFA has all the documents to prove its action, AMFA General Secretary L Ranjit Roy said that following the same steps, JSYC Sadar Hills was also disqualified from the tournament.
He asserted the action taken by AMFA was not based on discrimination as alleged but based on the rules and regulations that governed the apex football body of the State.
Ranjit also reminded that even in the 58th CC Meet, UUFC Ukhrul was disqualified as it roped into ineligible player.
In AMFA's effort to develop the game of football, it has not committed any discriminatory acts, sectarian actions and wrong doings, stated Ranjit Roy.
