School headmaster beaten to death

Imphal, November 02 2015:
Headmaster of Keirao Makting UJB School, Keirao Litan Makhong Md Hasmad Ali alias Babu (55), son of late Md Kasim Ali of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai was on Monday morning allegedly beaten to death by the villagers of Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai under Irilbung Police Station.
Sources said that Md Hasmad Ali was caught by locals while allegedly truting to steal one calf from the residence of one Khumalambam Brojen (50) of Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai at around 3 am Monday.
When he was taken to the residence of Brojen, some irate locals pulled Md Hasmad Ali out from the house and beat him to death, said the source.
One torch light, a wrist watch and a bundle of keys were reportedly found from Hasmad Ali.
However, police have not revealed anything on the case.
Meanwhile, sensing foul play into the killing, a public meeting of Keirao Makting was held on Monday and formed JAC against the brutal killing of Md Hasmad Ali alias Babu (55), Keirao Makting Awang Leikai and adopted a five-point resolution.
The meeting resolved to demand the Government to arrest and punish the calf owner and relatives within 12 hours; if anybody from the local found involved in the incident, the family should be expelled from the locality.
The JAC also decided not to claim the body till its demands are fulfilled; demanding Government jobs for the children of Hasmad Ali and demanding a compensation of Rs 5 lakh.
Demanding to the arrest of the "killers," large number of protesters thronged to the Irilbung Police Station on Monday afternoon and blocked the Imphal-Yairipok road.
But the road was reopened after the JAC members and the Police personnel came to an agreement.
Later, house of one Md Amu (40), son of Jamerudin of Keirao Makting Awang Leikai who was allegedly involved in the killing was set on fire.
Convener of the newly formed JAC, Md Rajauddin said that Md Hasmad Ali alias Babu was a simple living school headmaster.
He had gone out from his residence on Sunday at around 9.30 pm to buy paan.
After he failed to return, complain was lodged at Irilbung Police Station at around 2 am.
The news of his death at Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai reached at around 4 am, said Md Rajauddin and added that Md Hasmad Ali was brutally killed by some people first and later charged him for stealing.
Demanding punishment to the culprits within 12 hours, the JAC convener also warned to launch various form of agitations.
