Imphal, November 02 2015:
The JAC Against the Closing of Pong Lambi by JNIMS authority has decided to suspend the agitation after MLA Ksh Biren assured the JAC of apprising the JAC's demand to the Chief Minister today.
Public curfew imposed at JNIMS campus has also been suspended for some time, the JAC added.
Earlier before the suspension of the stir was announced, JNIMS Director Dr Deben Laishram urged the protesters not to cause inconvenience to people who are in need to medical services.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Deben Laishram said that doctors, nurses and staff members of JNIMS are relentlessly discharging duties for the welfare of the people and protesters should consider the medical needs of the people and refrain from causing any inconvenience.
Protesters who have been agitating since October 26 have shut down JNIMS gate and imposed public curfew in JNIMS campus, said JNIMS Hospital spokesperson Dr Y Mohen.
He said that around hundred students who were attending classes were locked up by protesters from outside the classroom.
The matter has been brought to the notice of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh during a meeting wherein a suggestion to provide an alternative route was put forward, said Dr Y Mohen.
Protesters should empathise the people who require medical emergencies and other related services, added Dr Y Mohen.
