Preparatory meeting on NFSA held

The progress of digitisation process of beneficiaries of National Food Security Act, which is planned to be implemented in the State from January 1 next year, was reviewed today.
The preparatory meeting, chaired by CAF and PD Minister M Okendro, was held today at the conference hall of Secretariat South Block.
The meeting was attended amongst others by DCs of Bishnupur, Thoubal, Senapati and Ukhrul, and DSOs of Jiribam, Kangpokpi subdivisions and others.
The Minister reportedly instructed the officials to complete digitisation process of beneficiary lists within Nov 15.He also urged them not to leave out any eligible household in the lists.
The digitisation process of every district was reviewed during the meeting.
According to the officials, 67 pc of the digitisation process has been completed in respect of Imphal East and 30.53 pc of Imphal West, 46.30 pc of Thoubal, 22.69 pc of Bishnupur, 55.58 pc of Churachandpur, 75.66 pc of Tamenglong, 65.31 pc of Kangpokpi, 67.32 pc of Ukhrul and 57.24 pc of Chandel districts have been completed.
The scheme aimed at providing nutritious foods at subsidised rate to beneficiaries every month.
Beneficiaries will be provided rice at Rs 3 per kg, hawai at Rs 2 per kg and coarse grain at Rs 1 per kg under the scheme.
CAF and PD Minister Okendro also reiterated that the Govt is targeting to implement the NFSA in the State from Jan 1, 2016 .
