All Manipur District Council Teachers' Association has demanded implementation of pension scheme and release of pending arrears.
In a statement, General Secretary of the Association Letkhosei Haokip said that since the inception of the Association in 1996, it has been demanding the government to implement pension scheme for the employees under six Autonomous District Councils in Manipur.
After 10 years of demanding, the government had issued an extra-ordinary gazette for payment of pension to the employees of District Councils.
However, implementation of the pension scheme has remained pending.
On the other hand, release of 14 percent of DA arrears (5th Pay Commission ROP arrear) of the employees corresponding to the period from January 1, 2001 to June 30, 2005 has remained frozen in the GPF account of other government employees, Letkhosei lamented.
