Two workers of HVS Constructions Pvt Ltd were taken into captivity by militant outfit on a ransom demand of Rs 1.50 crore.
According to a source, two Excavator operators of the firm, Hawaibam Suresh (22) s/o (L) Tomba of Khaidem Awang Leikai and Jalaluddin Barbuiya (27) s/o Jamiruddin of Assam's Hailakandi were abducted on November 24 at around 6.30 pm from Keithelmanbi under Patsoi PS along Imphal-Jiri highway.
The next day after the two workers were abducted, a caller identifying himself as a member of a particular militant group had informed the Managing Director of HVS Constructions, Huidrom Vikramjit that two of his workers were abducted and demanded a ransom money of Rs 1.50 crore for their safe release.
Besides, the abductors had also reportedly made threatening calls to the families of the captives.
Workers of the HVS Constructions Pvt Ltd staged a sit in protest against the abduction today in front of the firm's office at Patsoi.
The demonstrators also demanded the safe release of the abducted workers.
