Lamka, June 26 2015 :
Unidentified miscreants burnt several class rooms of Churachandpur Government High School located at IB road last night .
A swift response by the locals and fire brigade, however prevented any major disaster.
The fire which broke out in two different rooms located at separate blocks is believed to have been deliberately set aflame by some miscreants as traces of kerosene were found in another room inside the school campus.
Sources in the school today said the caretaker living in a house adjoining the school had last night discovered several bottles of kerosene, believed to have been left behind by the miscreants.
The caretaker had examined the school campus on sensing suspicious movements in the school but departed surmising no malicious intention.
The school was among one of the favourite dens for drug users.
However at around 10.30 pm he spotted fire in one of the rooms and raised an alarm.
A huge crowd supported by the fire brigade managed to control the fire.
Desks and benches besides the ceiling of two classrooms were the only objects that were damaged in the fire.

Several soft drink bottles filled with kerosene along with a room already splattered with the combustible substance was spotted inside the school.
Although the intention behind the arson is still unknown, a closer look at the state of affairs in the school brought to fore that the supposed temple of learning was unfit to be referred to as one.
It was a den for drug users hunting for a secluded place.
Syringes were scattered on the filthy floor of its old and abandoned structure like every other secluded spaces.
At least two overdose victims have been recovered from the campus in recent years a staff informed, while another added that drug-users hang around the school campus even during school hours.
Sometimes early in the day, the 30 odd students of the school are greeted by people in compromising positions on the filthy floor of the vacant building, it has been learnt.
A visit by The Sangai Express around noon today underscored the reality as a young couple with no sign of guilt or nervousness entered the campus and headed straight towards the toilet, where the school authorities said they make use of the space between the road-side fencing and the school building.
No wonder used syringes litter the ground there as well.
It was a pity that the teachers and students of the school have to endure the unpleasant sight on a daily basis.
