Surveillance unit debunks COVID-19 rumour at CCpur

CCpur, March 18 2020:
The Rapid Response Team of Churachandpur conducted extensive training on COVID-19 at the GNM Auditorium, Churachandpur District Hospital, today.
Medical Officers from CHCs, PHCs and the CMO Pool along with multipurpose workers, ambulance Drivers and microbiologist from the District Hospital participated in the training programme that was organised under Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
Dr Ngahneikim, DSO led the session with detail deliberation on disease dynamics, an overall scenario in India and worldwide, containment plan, standard operating procedures in DSU etc.
She also spoke about the approach to be adopted by the health officials and the process to be followed on donning and doffing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
The Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent, District Family Welfare Officer and other health officials from the district also attended the event.
Meanwhile, officials from the District Surveillance Unit have debunked the allegation that someone from the district has contacted COVID-19.Describing the news doing the rounds in social media as false, the officials said they have met the lady who returned from a Sri Lanka based cruise ship.
Before leaving the ship she was reportedly quarantined and observed for 14 days.
Besides she's also subjected to intense screening at Mumbai, Kolkata and Imphal Airports during the journey, they said.
Additionally, the surveillance team also revealed that her temperature was normal when they met her.
Saying that such baseless rumour will do no good to the current situation, the officials appealed all concerned to refrain from circulating such rumour in future.
The officials further disclosed that 50 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till date but all have returned negative.
