COVID-19: HC issues advisory for Courts

Imphal, March 18 2020:
Amidst the coronavirus scare in the country, the High Court of Manipur has issued advisory for the Court and district Courts.
Advocates are advised not to attend the Court unless required for appearing in urgent motion hearing cases.
Upto March 20, the High Court will take up only urgent matters.
Other matters and the next dates will be uploaded on the Court's website for convenience of the lawyers and litigations.
Urgent mentioning may be made before Senior Judge, the advisory said.
District Courts will hear only urgent matters upto March 21.Dates for other matters will be uploaded on the website concerned.
For criminal cases, First/Police remand will be done as per normal procedure.
Remand from judicial custody will be done via video conferencing from jails.
However, special arrangements for judicial remand in respect of outlying Courts will be made by the Session Judges concerned, it said.
Parties/litigants need not come to Courts unless it is essential and necessary.
Personal appearance of parties or their representatives is dispensed with unless specifically directed by the Courts.
No adverse order or default order shall be passed where parties/litigants or their representatives are absent, said the advisory.
On March 19, 20, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 31, Judges will sit on rotation basis and take up urgent cases- Justice LS Jamir (10.30 am to 11.30 am); Justice Kh Nobin Singh (11.45 am to 12.45 pm) and Justice A Bimol Singh (1 pm to 2 pm), it said.
Further, all the interim orders passed in connection with WP(C),CRP, CRP (Article 227)/criminal matter or any other matter which have already been granted for a specific date shall be extended till next date of effective hearing, it added.
