Grenade lobbed at residence

In addition to lobbing a hand grenade at a private residence at Phubala under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district this morning, one vehicle kept at the house was also torched.
On the other hand, one hand grenade was planted at the residence of an advisor of the Moirang Auto-Rickshaw Drivers' Association.
A police source informed that a Tata Winger of Haorongbam Romeo (35) of Phubala Makha Leikai which was kept inside the garage was set afire by some unidentified miscreants at about 2.30 this morning.
As the neighbours were struggling to douse the fire, one of them came across a Chinese hand grenade lying over a piece of paper near the gate of Romeo.
The piece of paper was written with the words "KCP-MC, Nongdrenkhomba' .
On the other hand, one grenade was found beneath an auto-rickshaw parked at the home of one Ngangom Ranjan of Moirang Phiwangbam Leikai at about 8.30 pm yesterday.
Ranjan is advisor of an association of auto-rickshaw drivers/owners plying between Moirang and Kumbi.
It is reported that some persons who identified themselves as activists of PREPAK demanded annual 'tax' of Rs 1500 from each auto-rickshaw driver/owner a few days back.
Both the hand grenades have been retrieved by police.
