Cabinet okays residential schools

Imphal, June 15 2012:
The State Cabinet has decided to set up nine residential schools in all nine districts of Manipur under Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.
Informing about the Cabinet meeting which was presided by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, a senior Minister said that the intake capacity of each school at the initial stage would be 100 .
These residential schools would be set up under a joint effort of the Centre and the State Government.
For the proposed nine schools, the State Cabinet has given its consent to appoint 130 teachers and hostel wardens.
The Cabinet has also given its approval for issuing notification for the Panchayat poll which has been tentatively scheduled in September this year.
As three Gram Panchayats out of five which were earlier under Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat have been brought under Autonomous District Council during delimitation exercise, the remaining two Gram Panchayats would be brought under Khurkhul Gram Panchayat.
The State Government has adopted a resolution towards this end.
Further, the Cabinet meeting agreed on instituting a magisterial enquiry into the killing of Angom Tejmani of Phayeng at Khoyathong in an alleged encounter at Khoyathong in 2008 .
