Two women abducted, NWUM condemns, demand release

Senapati, June 15 2012:
Two women, who are sisters, were reportedly abducted yesterday by some unidentified gunmen from their parent's house at Thanamba Kalapahar Village under Kangpokpi Police Station.
The victims were identified as L.Viikhii (40) w/o Daya Meitei and L.Veine (35) w/o Shanglong of Oinam Hill village, Senapati District.
According to sources, some gunmen dressed in civil dress barged into the house at around 7 pm yesterday and dragged the two women at gunpoint before taking them away in a white Maruti van.
The whereabouts of the two abducted women are not known till today.
Meanwhile, Naga Women's Union (NWU) in a statement has strongly condemned the abduction and demanded immediate release of the two sisters unconditionally without further delay.
Stating that victimizing women without any humanitarian consideration is intolerable and inhuman, the NWU has also appealed for safe release of the two women.
