Imphal, April 11 2012:
Following an agreement between representatives of Indian Oil Corporation, fuel transporters and petroleum dealers, transporters have decided to suspend their agitation with immediate effect and resume duty.
According to an informed source, the agitating tanker drivers off-loaded petrol/diesel at the IOC depot in chingmeirong from around 2 pm today and continued till late evening.
About 450 tanker operators had been on strike since April 7 which caused immense inconveniences to the consumers.
Almost all the petrol outlets located in Imphal were closed today.
The issue was resolved in today's meeting which was attended by Deputy General Manager (Operations) Ambalakanta of IOC's Guwahati-based North East Integrated State Office and representatives of the transporters and dealers.

The transporters refused to off-load the fuel in the past few days in protest against non-adherence to the queue system for off-loading the fuel by some tankers.
With the transporters insisting that a written assurance be given by IOC officials to streamline the fuel off-loading mechanism, the dealers were asked by the Deputy GM for a written commitment to off-load fuel in serial manner which was duly agreed by the dealers.
