Imphal, April 11 2012:
The Sadar Hills District Congress Committee has nullified the opinion poll for deciding the leadership of SHADC taken yesterday on the ground that seven MDCs were coerced by VC of SHADC Haokholal Hangshing.
A statement of the Sadar Hills District Congress Committee, signed by VP, Lunthang Haokip; Chief Whip, Lamkholen Kipgen and General Secretary, Thanggoulun Kipgen pointed out that during the opinion poll, family members of the seven abducted MDCs were held captive in exchange of the seven MDCs by the KRA, who were supporting Haokholal Hangshing.
The statement added that the seven MDCs were not able to give their honest opinion against Haokholal.
"We also saw that during the meeting held at Congress Bhawan, the seven MDCs were put under strict surveillance upto the extent that they were not even allowed to go to the toilet alone," the statement charged.
It further alleged that the seven MDCs were escorted and guided by the KRA cadres in civvies during a meeting of the members convened by the party high command on April 3 and 10 .
It questioned that how would the members be able to give honest opinion under such circumstances.
It further alleged that the seven abducted members were denied any chance of meeting even with their wives and family members and they were put under conditions from time to time.
The SHDCC statement also quoted Haokholal Hangshing as saying that he would leave the Congress along with his supporters and the seven abducted members of the ADC if he is not given the seat of the Chairman.
