Kombirei blooms heralding advent of spring

After a long gap, Kombirei Garden has gifted a valauable present to the people of the state in the form of garden full of blooming Kombirei, heralding advent of spring season.
Kombirei has been an inseparable flower for the people of Manipur who use this flower at the time of Cheiraoba, the Meetei New Years' Day.
However, it has been long since the people of the state have not get a glimpse of blooming Kombirei either in Lamphelpat and Yaralpat.
But thanks to the effort of renowned lyricist RK Sanaton who toils hard to conserve this important flower.
Now, one can see hundreds of Kombirei blooming in the garden owned by RK Sanaton.
RK Sanaton is an AIR approved lyricist and playwright.
He had been earlier honoured with Best Lyricist Award 2000 by ED Vision for his lyrics 'Ningshingba Nangse Leiron Chankhroba' .

RK Sanaton told reporters that he planted only three Kombirei saplings at his field at Yaralpat with an aim to conserve the historical flower.
By that time, the garden had not been developed as seen now.
His only desire was conserve the flower from extinction.
It was only after he successfully planted Kombirei that he developed the idea of a garden.
Today, the garden has earned some fame and visitors are coming to see the garden.
Now he can easily look after the garden and also appoint 10 workers to maintain the flowers from the income generated.
Birthday party, Ipaan Thaba ceremony, film shooting and other occasions are now held at the garden, he added.
Sanaton informed that he had not sought for any assistance from the government to develop his garden even though officials of State Tourism Department have once visited the garden.
The third anniversary of the garden is set to be celebrated on April 14 .
