Annual Chinjak Festival from April 20

The annual Chinjak Festival will have increased number of international participants in the third edition of the weeklong event beginning from April 20 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela campus, Palace Compound.
Informing about the festival's progression from a State level event to an international one at a media briefing at Hotel Imphal today, Lelina Th, who is the office manager of Innovative youth Society, the event host, said the upcoming festival will have a total of 40 stalls, out of which nine will be international stalls.
Reminding that the previous festival had four international participants from south east Asian countries including China, Thailand, Tibet and Korea, Lelina said this year the organisers are expecting participation from five more countries including Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Myanmar.
Informing that apart from indigenous and traditional food items of different communities of Manipur, the festival will have Ngakra, Pengba and Ngaton fish dishes as special cuisine items for the visitors, the office manager exuded confidence that the international participants will be the added attraction.
Another first in the festival will be conduct of Chinjak Game with the winners awarded food-based gifts and setting up of a public kitchen at the festival venue where a visitor may cook/prepare a dish of his/her choice and name the item.
All the materials needed for the food preparation would be provided by the organising committee, she said.
