Cong, BJP hum different tunes: Anti-Cong wave in NE unlikely, says Dy CM

Accepting that the indian National Congress suffering defeat in the Assembly elections of Delhi, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh might be due to some strategic fault of the party, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaikhangam however said as issues differ, the anti-Congress wave is unlikely to affect the party's electoral prospects in the North East region.
Speaking to newspersons at Congress Bhavan today, Gaikhangam, also the Deputy Chief Minister, observed that mandate in the assembly elections of the four States is yet another reminder that no Government or political party can remain naive on the aspiration and collective will of the people.
Stating that it would be premature to come to the conclusion that defeat of the INC in the four States marks political downfall of the Congress, he explained that as local, national and international issues vary perceptive flaw on the State and local issues might be some of the factors for the Congress party suffering setback in these elections.
Observing that causative factors for the defeat need to be identified and duly rectified, Gaikhangam nevertheless affirmed that the upcoming Parliamentary elections will see INC emerging as the majority party and sustaining the UPA stint at the Centre.
Emphasising that minute assessment is a necessity on whether the Congress Governments in the four States misconstrued the public sentiment or had administrative flaw so that such errors do not become a hurdle in the party regaining its composure and strength, the DyCM also opined that possibility of anti-incumbency cannot be ruled out for the electoral misfortune of the INC.
Citing victory of the Congress in Mizoram to substantiate that there is no anti-Congress wave in the NE region, he also conveyed congratulations to Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla for INC's stupendous show in the Mizoram State assembly election.
