Imphal, December 09 2013:
Even as the Manipur People's Party (MPP) workers took out a rally today demanding the arrest of the culprits involved in the assassination of the party's Vice-president, Haobijam Manisana, the JAC against the brutal killing of H Manisana has warned of launching intensified stir if no positive response from the Govt is forthcoming
by Dec 15 .
The MPP rally culminated with the submission of a memorandum to the Governor.
The rally began from the party office located near Mapal Kangjeibung and proceeded towards BT Road en route to the Raj Bhawan.
Police put up a futile attempt to barricade the rallyists along BT Road.
However, the rallyists were completely halted by the police near Johnstone Hr Sec School.
Later, a team of MPP leaders led by its president, N Sovakiran proceeded to meet Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar where a memorandum was also submitted.
Mentioning that assassination is not a new trend in political history of the world, the MPP memo said that due to Govt's apathy and lack of sincerity, the assassins of Manisana could not be booked within a given period of time.
Even as a memorandum was submitted to the CM on Nov 16 demanding the arrest of the assassins, nothing has been done so far which prompted the party to presume that the CM has no concern in the case, it said while conveying its strong condemnation.
As such, the MPP urged the Governor to take cognizance of the matter and direct the State Government to immediately arrest the assassins.
It may be mentioned that H Manisana was assassinated on Nov 13 around 10AM at Changangei Ucheckon, Airport road.
Meanwhile, the JAC against the killing of Manisana today said that it is very unfortunate that the Govt kept the matter in cold storage.
Addressing a press meet today at the Manipur Press Club, the JAC Chairman, N Ranbir said that it would be compelled to launch intensified agitation if no positive response from the Govt comes by Dec 15 .
