MPP demands CBI probe in VP Manisana's murder

Imphal, December 09 2013:
Demanding the killers of Manipur People's Party (MPP) Vice-President Haobijam Manisana be arrested and punished within a short time, the workers of MPP carried out a mass rally and submitted a memorandum to the Governor here today.
The workers converged at MPP head-office near Imphal Polo Ground at 11.30 am and began to march towards Raj Bhavan.
However, they were blocked by the police near BT Park.
There was a brief confrontation between the police and MPP workers.
Later, seven leaders of MPP including President Sovakiran were allowed to meet the Governor.
But, Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar was out of station when the MPP team reached Raj Bhavan.

The MPP leaders submitted a memorandum to the Governor through his Secretary regarding the murder of their Vice-President Manisana.
Talking to media persons after submitting a memorandum to the Governor, President of MPP N Sovakiran said that the State Government has sidelined Manisana's murder case.
There is no breakthrough in the case from the side of State Police Department.
The Government should handover the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as soon as possible.
The party workers would continue the agitation until and unless the killers of Manisana are arrested and punished, he enjoined.
Meanwhile, the MPP leaders along with the JAC members would meet the Governor on December 13 to seek his intervention in the case.
