Imphal, December 07 2022:
Five new helipads will be constructed at different parts of the state under the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In this regard, Chief Minister N Biren chaired a review meeting at his Secretariat, here, on Wednesday.
The objective of UDAN scheme is to enhance connectivity across the country by increasing air routes and subsidising air travel cost.
Under this scheme, air (aeroplane, helicopter) seats are being provided to the people of the northeast at subsidised rates.
Attended by officials of Public Works Department and Transport Department, the meeting held on Wednesday discussed construction of a six-lane road connecting from the highways till the proposed new terminal of the airport.
The project will not only help improve the state's economy but also reduce surface traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, in connection with Arm Forces Flag Day, an ex-servicemen team of the state met CM Biren on Wednesday and pinned the flag of AAFD on the CM.
"On this Armed Forces Flag Day, I salute the devoted soldiers who defended the honour and safety of the nation by defending its nation, be it land, water or air.
I wish the best to all the armed forces of the nation," Biren posted on his Facebook page.
