Hiroshima day observed

The 69th Hiroshima Day Observance 2014 organised by Indo-Japan Friendship Association was on Wednesday held at Manipur Press Club Majorkhul Imphal.
The chief guest of the function, ex-Minister and Working President of Indo-Cuban Friendship Society Dr M Nara Singh asserted that the movement against the nuclear as well as chemical war should be supported by one and all so that massive human lost would be avoided in the future.
Recollecting the human loss during the World War II, Dr Nara reminded the millions of people were killed when nuclear bombs struck Hiroshima and Nagashaki on August 6 and 9 respectively in 1945.He further said that such disastrous Day has been observed across the world irrespective of political differences so as to avoid such disasters in future.
The world is facing an apparent nuclear threat, since a number of countries are having a number of nuclear bombs which could have the potential to destroy the world many times.
Dr Nara added that the Hiroshima and Nagashaki nuclear incidents had rendered many people disabled for life time.
In honour of the victims, a 'peace park' was built at Hiroshima.
In this regard, he appealed to the Governments across the world to stop nuclear test and its proliferation and also the ongoing war at some parts of the world in order to give peace a chance.
During the function, the president of the Indo-Japan Friendship Association W Bhumeswar read out the Peace Declaration of the Mayor of the City of Hiroshima, Matsui Kazumi.
The gathering of the commemoration has observed two minutes silence in respect of the humans who lost their lives during the atomic bomb at Hiroshima.
And the organizers later distributed the 28th Hiroshima International Children Peace Drawing Competition 2013 held in Japan.
Furthermore, the Hiroshima Day was also observed by the Manipur University Nihongo Alumni Association at Naoba's Restaurant, RIMS road, Imphal at 8:15 am.
During the function, the gathering worshipped for the departed souls affected by the Atom bomb at Hiroshima in Japan at 8:18 am in 1945 .
Meanwhile, the Japanese Second World War Victims' Memorial Hospital Trust, Manipur has also organised the 69th Hiroshima Day at the Japanese Hospital located at Khabeishoi.
