MU institutes three Gold Medals from current session

Imphal, April 06 2011:
The Manipur University has instituted three Gold Medals from the current session 2011 for meritorious students in the field of Economics and Engineering.
Out of the three Gold Medals, 'Prof.Islamuddin Memorial Gold Medal' and Prof.M Iboton Singh Award for Young Economist' will be given every year from the academic session 2010-11 while 'Laishram Maimu and Laishram Tombileima Memorial Gold Medal' will be given from academic session 2011-2012 .
Farahna Bibi, Manipur University Campus Chanchipur, Imphal has donated a sum of Rs 48,000 for instituting the 'Prof Islamuddin Memorial Gold Medal' in memory of late Professor Islamuddin.
The medal will be awarded to a student of Economics securing highest marks in Agriculture Economics securing not less than 60 pc in aggregate in MA (Economics) Examination of the university with effect from the academic session 2010-2011 .
Professor M Iboton, Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, Imphal has also donated a sum of Rs 48,000 for instituting 'Prof.M Iboton Singh Award for Young Economist' which will be presented to the youngest scholar of a year who obtained PhD degree in Economics in the university from the academic session 2010-11 .
Laishram Momon, former University Engineer, Wangkhei Thambalkhong also donated Rs 45,000 for instituting 'Laishram Maimu and Laishram Tombileima Memorial Gold Medal' in the memory of his parents.
The gold medal will be awarded to a student who secures highest marks in the BE examination (combined) of the Manipur University from the academic session 2011-12 onwards.
