Remand for rape accused till Nov 18

POCSO Special Court, Imphal East today remanded a 41 year old man accused of raping his own minor daughter to judicial custody till November 18 .
A group of people belonging to the victim's locality, infuriated by the alleged bestial crime, today attempted to storm Cheirap Court complex when the alleged accused was produced before the Court at around 10.30 am today.
The accused has been lodged in Sajiwa Central Jail since October 7 in connection with a case taken up against him.
Since early morning, a large number of angry women belonging to the victim's mother's parental home gathered at Cheirap Court complex after they got information that the alleged accused father would be produced before the Court.
The alleged accused was taken inside the Court room of Special Court POCSO, Imphal East by a large number of police to prevent unwanted incidents inside the Court complex.
Police then drove all the protesters away from the Court complex and closed the main entrance gate of the Court complex.
The angry womenfolk made a human chain and blocked the main entrance gate when the alleged accused was brought out from the Court room, A large number of police personnel again drove the angry womenfolk away from the entrance gate and somehow managed to take the accused to Sajiwa Central Jail.
The heinous crime came to light after the wife of the alleged accused made a complaint to Imphal East women police station on September 19 that her minor daughter was raped by her husband somewhere in Imphal East district.
The complaint stated that the minor girl disclosed on September 19 about the heinous crime committed by her father.
She (the victim's mother) said that on September 10 at around 9 pm when she went to have dinner at her younger brother's residence and her daughter was left behind as she had a headache.
During that time, her husband allegedly raped her daughter taking advantage of the situation.
It is said that the victim minor is their only child.
She also mentioned that her daughter did not immediately reveal the crime due to threats from her husband.
The incident of September 10 was not the first one.
The minor was raped last year too when the victim along with her mother was at Kolkata where the alleged accused was posted at that time.
During their stay at Kolkata, the alleged accused raped his minor daughter twice in a month and continuously molested and sexually assaulted the minor victim, according to the complaint.
Acting on the complaint, a case was registered under FIR number 49 (9) 2016 Imphal East women police station under section 6 of POCSO Act 2012, and on the same day the alleged accused was arrested and taken into police custody for five days with due permission from JMIC Imphal East Court.
On September 23, the alleged accused was produced before the Special Court POCSO Imphal East, and the Court had remanded the alleged accused to judicial custody.
